MAKE IT IN LA is thrilled to welcome to the team an internationally exhibited fine artist, entrepreneur, designer, and veteran of crazy projects (from Hollywood sets and large-scale installations at Coachella to nanometric actuators!)

Teale Hatheway is our new Program Coordinator, overseeing our programming, including Catalyst and our event series, and our community-building and content.

Teale’s experience has prepared her to gild a car, safely suspend it over people’s heads, light it to create an illusion, launch a marketing campaign for it and arrange for the scene to tour. Why? Well, it turns out the world needs joy and sometimes joy looks like a gold-plated-auto-disco-ball, don’t you think?

An advocate of the physical trades, proponent of quality over quantity, and a life-long learner, Teale is enthusiastically hands on and always seeking to connect people with the resources they need to reach their goals. She has been awarded grants for and designed many large-scale festival art installations, including InTentCity, a functional art installation of 52 hand painted tents created for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. She has managed projects for television, film, live event and agency clients such as City of Pasadena Cultural Affairs, Disney, CBS International, Live Nation, Universal Studios, and Goldenvoice/AEG. Teale’s architectural paintings have been placed in numerous public and private collections including the Los Angeles Bureau of Street Lighting and the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

A graduate of Scripps College in Claremont, Teale has built her career to fill oddly-shapes shoes. With a deep-seeded love of sociology and as a fifth generation Angeleno, she is a supporter of historic preservation and the idea that memorable places create human connections. She loves estate sales, the idea of turning off her phone, and plotting to make your life more vibrant.

Support for the position comes from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Califia Farms, and LegalZoom.  Teale starts Monday, April 16, so come by and say hello!
